tekken

A new Tekken comic book will be released this May, based on the popular and long-running video game series. Publishers Titan Comics are working with  the game developers Bandai Namco Entertainment to deliver a series of in-universe tales to tie in with the fighting game lore. The creative team behind this new series, includes writer Cavan Scott, who has previously worked on Doctor Who and Vikings: Uprising, as well as artist Andie Tong, who has artwork on Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles among his credits.

According to Titan, the comic series will tap into Tekken’s rich history and feature characters from the fighting game, such as: Jin Kazama, Paul Phoenix, Yoshimitsu, Nina Williams and Heihachi Mishima. Writer Cavan Scott is quoted in a Titan press release:

I’m so excited to be bringing the explosive world of Tekken back to comics… I’ve been a fan of the series ever since I slipped the first game into my PlayStation back in 1995. We’re having great fun delving into the series’ history to bring back some familiar faces, along with all the fan-favorite fighters you’d expect. There’s going to be intrigue, danger and, of course, knock-out battles galore.

The debut issue of this comic is available with five art covers to collect, by artists Alex Ronald (Mycroft Holmes), Andie Tong, Anton Kokarev (Evil Dead 2: Beyond Dead By Dawn), Jimbo Salgado (Assassin’s Creed), and Nick Percival (Dark Souls). Titan Comics’ Tekken #1 will be in stores and available to download from digital platforms in May, 2017.
