US Avengers #1 starts a new Marvel comic series
A new superhero team will be featuring in this latest instalment of the Avengers series, following on from the climax of Civil War.
With a world still beset by danger, the United States of America needs a team of heroes they can rely on. The US Avengers version are the most patriotic super-group in the organizations history and definitely look the part, decked out in red, white & blue. Brazilian mutant and billionaire Roberto Da Costa is assembling this new line-up of the Avenger’s to ensure that America has the superheroes it needs.
Al Ewing (Judge Dredd, Captain America) is writing this series, although Ewing is British this series will explore everything he loves about all things American. He has said that the story will be a homage to America and a replacement to the negative aspects of nationalism.
The American Intelligence Mechanics (A.I.M.) will be the super-groups name, willing to brave all dangerous threats. Meanwhile, not to be upstaged, the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D are understandably suspicious of this new organisation and will be observing the unfolding events very closely. Da Costa’s team members in this latest Marvel gang are the Red Hulk, Iron Patriot, Squirrel Girl, Captain America, Pod and Cannonball. Marvel are teasing a time travelling plot line, with A.I.M embroiled in events which travel from the future into the past.
Paco Medina is the illustrator on board, he is fresh from designing the art work for The New Avengers: Civil War II series and has recently turned his hand to pencilling Uncanny X-Men and Star-Lord. The release date for US Avengers #1 is January 4th.
