The Image Comics sci-fi/horror series ECLIPSE launches a new story arc
This March, issue #5 of Eclipse kicks off new story direction, the creators of this series are promising an amazing second arc, which will expand on the events and themes of the previous episodes. Writer Zack Kaplan and artist Giovanni Timpano (along with colorist Flavio Dispenza) are the creative team behind this series which is brought to us from Image Comics and Top Cow productions.
In a publicity interview for the upcoming issue, Kaplan stated: “We’re thrilled to be bringing more Eclipse… The second arc promises more heat, an expanding world beyond the city, deadly enemies both new and old, and secrets revealed that challenge the characters’ allegiances and values.”
The setting of Eclipse is in the near future, and the world has been devastated by a global catastrophe. A mysterious solar event has transformed the sun’s light into deadly immolating rays and the world’s few survivors now live in nocturnal cities. The story of the series has established a killer, who uses sunlight to burn his victims, a girl he is targeting – who is the daughter of a powerful man and a solar engineer who has been brought in to help protect her.
Series artist, Timpano, stated in the same interview: “We really can’t wait to show you what we have in store for this second arc… If the readers were amazed by the New York urban landscape, they have no idea what waits just beyond the city’s borders. We have just scratched the surface both in terms of story and art.”
In this world where sunlight burns people alive, our protagonist is recruited for a secret mission into the dangerous, sun-drenched wasteland. Meanwhile, a troubled Cielo decides to investigate her father’s company—and the mysterious origins of the killer who didn’t burn in the sunlight. These storylines will be developed in the next edition and it seems fans of this series will be getting a larger world and story arcs of increasing complexity.
Eclipse #5 hits comic book stores on March 15th.
