Dark Nights: Metal by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo is the next Batman event for DC Comics
Dark Nights: Metal will be unveiled this summer from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. DC dropped the news about the comic book event at the Fan Expo Dallas, that was streamed live worldwide via Facebook. The insiders at DC are tight lipped about precisely what will be happening, but we are promised a new direction for the Batverse.
Scott Snyder has revealed that hints have been dropped into recent Batman comic storylines. The ground laying began with Court of Owls and other clues were planted in the Joker run. We are told that the biggest hints are in the Batman issues that concluded with Batman #50.
So, Dark Nights: Metal will be expanding on DC’s rebirth saga and revaluating characters’ choices in entirely new avenues. Snyder commented: “I want Metal to be built upon the stories happening now in Rebirth and create new material that feels really modern and different.” He continued “And above all, it’s going to be fun. Even with terror and nightmares, it won’t be grim. Dark Nights: Metal will be celebratory, huge and crazy. I’ve said it before: I am going for out-of-control dinosaurs and lasers.”
“I’ve been planning Metal for as long as I’ve been writing Batman. But this is bigger than Batman. Greg and I will dig beneath the surface of all the stories we’ve told to find a place of terror and twisted nightmares.”
The teamwork of Snyder and Capullo’s has inspired some very entertaining Batman comic series, the previous outings include: The Court of Owls, Death of the Family, Zero Year and Endgame. We will need to wait until August to view the results for ourselves.
Dark Nights: Metal #1 is scheduled to be in comic book stores in August 2017.
